Waste Management

The construction industry, increasingly need to play an essential part in the reduction of waste and increasing our awareness of green issues within the industry.

As a company we work hard to minimise our impact and reduce our waste that goes to landfill. These are both key to achieving our goals to reduce, reuse, recycle & recover as much of our waste as possible.

We liaise and co-operate with all the relative stakeholders, to ensure we as a business endeavour to reduce any negative environmental impacts.

With the aid of our supply chain including our waste partners, we ensure that all of our waste streams are correctly classified and recycled via the appropriate routes.

Where our waste goes:

The timber that we recycle is mainly waste wood which has been painted or contaminated: or wood which has already been recycled once into chipboard or MDF, so is often of no further use other than as a fuel for wood fired power generation. Though this in itself has a positive environmental effect as the Biomass fuel it creates is Carbon neutral and reduces the use of fossil fuels such as coal and gas.

The plastics which are recovered from site are 100% recycled at a Waste Management facility: and where feasible these are recycled back into UK industry creating and maintaining UK jobs.

Our Waste Management facility work very closely with pioneering UK plastic manufacturers and re-processors to identify, separate and grade the plastics that enter their facility so that they can be re-used in the UK in a variety of applications and recycled products.

As part of the waste separation process all inert aggregates and arisings that pass through the facility are separated by waste stream. The coarse aggregates are then stockpiled ready for further classification and crushing into a variety of recycled aggregate products which are used in a variety of applications.

After separation a heavy duty jaw crusher is used to crush and grade the material into a size reduced recycled product.

All of the products are independently tested by a UCAS approved laboratory and are produced in accordance with the Waste & Resources Action Programme (WRAP protocol).
