Owned by CERT Property Group, the 35,000 sqft office block was built in 1965 to a design by renowned architect, Richard Seifert.
The works comprise a two-storey extension on the 4th and 5th floor and a full refurbishment of the building’s interior, which will provide flexible and unique office accommodation.
Externally, the building façade will be completely upgraded, with its existing windows replaced with floor to ceiling windows to create a contemporary appearance.
Daniel Armitage, Managing Director of Armitage Construction, said: “We are delighted to be working alongside Cert Property again on another prestigious project which will bring an exciting new development to the community.”
Howard Lord, Managing Director at CERT property, commented: “Hilton House is a perfect example of the rebellious spirit of the Northern Quarter. We are working with local talent to create a building which captures the Northern Quarter’s rich heritage whilst also recognising that the working world is evolving. The demand for a character office space in the area is high and it is our aim to restore life into buildings like Hilton House to unlock their true potential and deliver new office solutions across the north of England.”
Interior designer the Sheila Bird Group has been appointed to develop the interior proposals and Buttress will be working alongside them to create a working environment that will be targeted at SME and co-working occupiers when the building welcomes its first occupiers in summer 2019.
