The works comprised of the removal of all existing floor finishes to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd floors, lift de-commissioning and removal, all internal doors and partial removal of the existing ceilings. During the demolition works new floor joists were introduced to the 1st and 2nd floors as well as new plywood box lintels to the existing internal walls to support the existing facade. A new MF ceiling was introduced to the front section of the building with plasterboard and skim to the rear which was all complete with a paint finish.
The Grade II listed building required many of the existing features including the façade and the existing fireplaces to remain in-situ. Internal alterations comprised of new mechanical and electrical works with associated ventilation works and a new sprinkler system was introduced to comply with the latest fire regulations. The apartments were completed with a paint finish, floor finish, new kitchens and wall tiling to the bathrooms and kitchens. The existing windows to the front elevation were updated with new secondary glazing and associated framework.
"Armitage Construction worked very closely and collaboratively on this very difficult conversion of a Grade 2 listed Office Building into 6 Apartments. Their willingness and effort to accommodate late design changes have made this project a real success which was delivered to a very tight budget. Armitage's commitment to an excellent finish also meant that all 6 Apartments were let within a week of handover"
