Providing a new village store, coffee shop, four residential apartments and two commercial units, bringing additional amenities within the village.
The works comprised the sympathetic refurbishment of the building fabric, residential and commercial fit out to modern practice and regulations, external landscaping and provision of parking facilities.
Existing features of interest were retained including two cast iron windows. These have been incorporated within the structure in acknowledgment of the building’s history and ensuring the development was in keeping with its surroundings.
The structure of the barns was found to be in a poorer condition once the roof was removed, the brickwork that was taken down was cleaned and reused and rebuilt using lime mortar. The roofing slates were replaced with reclaimed slate as the original roofing slates were too perished for reuse.
The external fabric of the building has been completely restored using traditional methods, whilst the inside of the building has been brought into the 21st century using modern energy efficiency technologies. Internal walls have been insulated and plastered, acoustic flooring installed, low energy lighting and heating along with a modern kitchen.
Over the years we have built a long standing reputation as a quality builder in both the Residential and Commercial sector.
Held at the Emirates Old Trafford, Manchester on Friday 26th April 2019, the LABC awards celebrate the achievements in the construction industry.
