The design and build contract was fast-track (13 week construction phase programme) and complex in nature with extensive mechanical and electrical alterations and upgrades, structural and non-structural alterations and specialist finishes throughout.
Heavy emphasis on the co-ordination of specialist trades in the delivery of design information prior to site commencement involving the early engagement of mechanical, electrical, sauna/steam room, movable walls, specialist wall and floor finishes and close client liaison has been of paramount importance to the successful delivery of this scheme.
The construction site is located across the second floor of an operational, four-storey, multiple-occupancy, NHS, University and leisure facility with a single point access via an internal staircase and lift. The co-ordination of heavy-side strip out works and the delivery of bulk materials have been managed extensively throughout this contract to ensure that access and egress via this staircase for the general public has been maintained with limited disruption. Temporary gymnasium facilities have been installed to ensure continued operation and revenue generation throughout the scheme following our collaborative approach to tender discussions on the suitability of the surrounding site areas and material proposals for the functional, temporary areas. The project was completed on time, to budget and to an extremely high standard for our clients and the general public to enjoy during their occupancy and use of the new facilities.
