Following the completion of the major Long Term Maintenance project to reconfigure and refurbish the Roscoe Building into a more modern teaching facility, Armitage were awarded the scheme to completely refurbish the ground floor foyer area.
Due to the award date of the project and the recommencement of the academic year the programme for the project was highly pressurised and required carefully coordinating with all trades. Initially the space required clearing of asbestos under controlled environmental conditions. Following the completion of this key element a month remained to completely refurbish the foyer. The works included the construction of new media walls and lecture theatre entrances along with new suspended ceilings and bulkhead detailing; all of which required rationalising on site between the suspended ceiling and electrical contractors, as well as off-site discussions with the manufacturers of the proposed systems. In addition a new reception was constructed with new bespoke desk and storage units’ complimenting the complete redecoration and new floor finishes throughout the space. As works were progressing well on-site the client requested the complete refurbishment of both of the buildings lift cars be incorporated into the project.
